Which Way to Rome

the magic of getting lost but finding home wherever you are

This Weekend in Rome: October 7 – 9

written by Young in Rome October 7, 2011

Friday: Puglian rock band Negramaro continues their four night run at the PalaOttimatica in EUR.  Tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday night.

Saturday: Tori Amos at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. Tickets at LiveNation are sold out, but there seem to be a few left on LisTicket if you want to catch the singer-songwriter in action at Renzo Piano’s striking, calzone-shaped auditorium.  And if you can’t score tickets, but find yourself in the neighborhood, don’t forget the MAXXI (just across Via Flaminia) is celebrating Giornata della Contemporanea with a free entrance all evening

Sunday: Last day to see the “Cities of New York” photo exhibition at the Centrale Montemartini.  The show opened on September 11th to commemorate the 10th anniversary, and features work by several prominent Italian photographers in an homage to New York City.  The museum is open from 7am to 9pm and tickets run 5.50, or 14 with combined entrance to the Capitoline Museums (valid for one week).

All weekend: The Piet Mondrian exhibit at the Complesso Vittoriano opens on Saturday, along with the Fillipino Lippi and Botticelli show at the Scuderie del Quirinale, and Georgia O’Keefe at Palazzo Cipolla on Via del Corso which both opened earlier this week.

My Story

A smidgen about me: growing up bouncing back and forth between Rome and Northern California, I eventually moved back to the Eternal City to finish college and then decided I liked gelato too much to move away again. Today I split my time between Tunis, where I work for an international organization, and wandering around my beloved Roma in constant search of bookstores and the perfect espresso. Read more…
