Which Way to Rome

the magic of getting lost but finding home wherever you are

Strike Tomorrow!

written by Young in Rome December 15, 2011

Since it’s a day that ends in “y”, there’s yet another transportation/general strike in Bella Roma tomorrow! Buses, trams, metros and pretty much anything else that carries you around the city and greater metropolitan area will be striking on Friday, December 16th from 8:30am-5pm and again from 8pm until the end of the day. While the strike is called for tomorrow morning, night buses are at risk as well starting this evening. Keep in mind that there is guaranteed service from 5pm-8pm (whatever that means), but, as always, you’ll probably see some rogue buses running throughout the day, although I wouldn’t count on it. And with tomorrow’s forecast of wind and rain, it’s probably best to just cut your losses, stay home, and perfect that eggnog or bombardino recipe.  Or head over to Piazza San Pietro on foot to catch the lighting of their Christmas tree!

[…] After your visit, take advantage of the guaranteed metro service between 5pm and 8pm during today’s strike, and hop on the metro over to Ottaviano just as it’s getting dark and head down to Vatican […]

My Story

A smidgen about me: growing up bouncing back and forth between Rome and Northern California, I eventually moved back to the Eternal City to finish college and then decided I liked gelato too much to move away again. Today I split my time between Tunis, where I work for an international organization, and wandering around my beloved Roma in constant search of bookstores and the perfect espresso. Read more…
