Settimana della Birra Artigianale, or, Italian Craft Beer Week, starts this Monday. Close to 300 pubs, stores, and breweries are participating across the country, including quite a few here in Rome. Check out the website for a full listing of events and participants, but see below for a few recommendations.
Tuesday, Feb 14 and Friday, Feb 17 – Aperitivo at Birra+
Birra+ in Pigneto is hosting a few evenings of 6 euro aperitivos, with a menu provided by Pizzeria Opulentia al Pigneto. These guys are also opening from 3pm-3am on Saturday, Feb 18 for a “special tap session”.
Wednesday, Feb 15 – Blind Tasting at Bibere (call for reservations)
Think you know your craft beers? Head to Bibere at 7pm on Wednesday to test your beer-identifying skills against the other masters…
Saturday, Feb 18 – Montegioco Evening
Domus Birrae on Via Cavour and Trastevere neighbors Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa and Bir&Fud are teaming up for this evening dedicated to the Montegioco brewery. The free tasting starts at 5:30 at Domus Birrae, and the night continues in Trastevere with 5 euro selections of Montegioco’s finest.
Sunday, Feb 19 – Homebrew Class at Agriturismo 4.5
This agriturismo out on the Via Ardeatina is hosting a homebrewing course. Learn all the steps to making your own beer, and eat a nice hearty lunch while you’re at it. Reservations are necessary, and can be made in town at Enoteca Bibere. 15 euro, lunch included.
