Kicking off what could be a 6 day weekend for some (depending on whether your school/boss grants you the full ponte), this Wednesday, April 25th is Liberation Day – the annual commemoration of the day Italy was liberated from the Fascists in 1945. While it’s always nice to have a day off work in honor of freedom and democracy and all that, this year it has the added bonus of corresponding with Casa del Jazz’s annual birthday celebration. Starting at noon on Wednesday, the Casa del Jazz, one of Rome’s leading outdoor music venues, is kicking off their spring and summer season with a day-long, free festival, al fresco. Bring yourself, a picnic, a blanket, and probably some wine, and spend the day lounging in a grassy field and listening to artists like Roberto Gatto and Paolo Damiani.
What: Il Compleanno della Casa del Jazz! Or, an afternoon of music and sunshine
Where: Casa del Jazz, Viale di Porta Ardeatina, 55 – near the Baths of Caracalla and the Piramide Metro B stop
When: Wednesday, April 25th. Doors open at noon, and the concert will run until 5 or so
How much: Ingresso libero – that means it’s free!

Does this normally get [very] crowded?
Last year, it definitely filled up throughout the day, but you should be able to find a nice patch of grass to sit on at any time.
