June always strikes me as a good time to expand my wine knowledge. Any month, really, but fortunately this time it coincides with the start of Vinoforum, a 16-day annual oenologic extravaganza on the Lungotevere Maresciallo Diaz, up by the Foro Italico/Stadio Olimpico. For a fortnight and change, this section of the lungotevere, just south of Ponte Milvio, transforms into a 10,000 square meter wine village of over 500 wine producers offering nearly 2,500 labels for you to sample, examine, analyze, and, hopefully for them, purchase. The event runs from Friday, June 1 – Saturday, June 16. Entry times and fees vary a bit by day, so read on for more info:
Tickets:
Sunday – Thursday: 16 euro (unlimited tastings)
Friday: 20 euro (12 tastings)
Saturday: 25 euro (12 tastings)
Times:
Sunday – Thursday: 7pm-midnight*
Friday & Saturday: 7pm-1am
*Mondays are reserved for vendors only from 7pm-10pm
How to get there:
The 32, 69, 168, 200, 220, 224 and 232 all stop nearby, and the #2 tram stops just on the other side of Ponte Milvio.
