Friday: If you haven’t noticed, it’s rather hot today. Fortunately, starting today, there are a few pretty awesome ways to stay cool. Firstly, Euro 2012 kicks off (ha) in Poland at noon, giving you a great excuse to spend the next three weeks sitting inside air conditioned sports bars cheering on gli azzurri. Scholars, Abbey Theatre, and Druid’s are promising to show all the games live, and offering Irish classics from their respective kitchens to keep you fueled for the soccer madness. If you prefer panoramic views to free kicks and red cards, try you find yourself up in Piazza Garibaldi tonight. The sunset will be gorgeous, and you can celebrate the opening of Gianicolo 150, Salotto 42’s trendy, summertime sibling.
Saturday: Really, Saturdays are just an excuse to dance. This weekend, you have some pretty fantastic options with competing festivals Meet in Town at the Auditorium, and Electrode out at Forte Prenestina. Our trusty club correspondent has already provided a pretty compelling case for each one, so we’ll leave it up to you to choose where you want to dance your face off this weekend. Also, if, like me, your all access passes to Cannes 2012 were somehow lost in the mail, don’t fret, as the top films from this year’s festival are playing in Rome starting this weekend. Presented in association with the French Embassy, three cinemas in Prati (Adriano, Giulio Cesare, and Eden) will give you the chance to see the latest work from Wes Anderson, Michel Gondry, and a bunch of other awesome directors. Full list here, tickets are 7 euro.
Sunday: Since summer is nothing but an excuse for a festival, San Lorenzo is pulling out all the stops with nightly concerts and performances in Piazza del Verano. While they have a pretty sweet lineup of ticketed gigs, head there on Sundays for the Sunset Sessions. Entrance is free from 7-9:30, and will feature jam sessions, talks, DJs and more. Also, it’s Zvia’s birthday, so send her some auguri.
