Which Way to Rome

the magic of getting lost but finding home wherever you are

Dance Your Face Off: The May 4th and 5th Edition

written by May 4, 2012

Friday May 4th

Anarchy in the Club: Y’all already know how partial I am to Berlin DJs, so this one should come as no surprise. Spinning tonight is Ben Klock, techno DJ and one of the resident DJs from Berlin’s famous Berghain club (if you want stories of how crazy this club is, I would be happy to share. Privately…)
Where: GOA – Via G. Libetta, 13
When: 11:30 PM
Cost: Not sure, I would guess that it’s over 15 euro
Check out the Facebook invite, even though it doesn’t provide much more info.

Say It Loud: This edition of Say It Loud (a community of artists and musicians that hold events regularly), will be held at Angelo Mai. As per their Facebook invite, tonight there will be Afro-tech, Afro-minmal, and UK funky being played. I know this may sound a bit weird, but the Say It Loud parties are always good, and Angelo Mai…well I think you guys know how much we love it there…
Where: Angelo Mai – Via delle Terme di Caracalla 55/a
When: 10:30 PM
Cost: Not sure, I’d guess no more than €10

Saturday May 5th

Rnbl∞m: This is a night dedicated to music and art, in every sense. It is a concept party being held at Lanificio, and is invite only. Not to worry, to get yourself on the list, all you have to do is click this link, enter your email, and they will send you a printable invite. The DJs playing are: Zed Bias + Girl Unit + Vvino Pauli + Misery Peat B2B Ayarcana + Orree+ Semè. For more info on each artist check out Lanificio’s event page, which is very detailed, albeit in Italian. It’s safe to say you will hear funk, dubstep, minimal, electro…
Where: Lanificio – Via di Pietralata 159/A
When: 9 PM +
Cost: Free from 9-10:30, From 10:30-12, €5 with beer or €10 with cocktail, From 12 – 1 AM, €10 with cocktail, From 1 AM on €10

Benga + LNRipley: Ending his tour in Rome, Benga, a pioneer in the development of dubstep, will be playing at Brancaleone tomorrow night. Benga is accompanied on tour by MC Youngman, also playing tomorrow. After, LNRipley will be performing live on the drums and bass.
Where: Brancaleone – Via Levanna, 13
When: 11 PM
Cost: €12
For more info check out Brancaleone’s event page, in Italian.

My Story

A smidgen about me: growing up bouncing back and forth between Rome and Northern California, I eventually moved back to the Eternal City to finish college and then decided I liked gelato too much to move away again. Today I split my time between Tunis, where I work for an international organization, and wandering around my beloved Roma in constant search of bookstores and the perfect espresso. Read more…
